The First Torana Masters was held on Saturday and combined with the "Old Skool Show and Shine" on Sunday at Parklands Showground, Southport Qld.
Saturday: Despite the persistent rain, 40 Torana's entered the Showgrounds in the morning and after registering all then cruised up to Hinze Dam (30 mins drive) for an informal Meet and Greet BBQ, it was an impressive line up of cars to see parked adjacent to the BBQ area including the Authors 4 Door A9X and 2 A9X Hatches . Some cars had travelled from Sydney, Cairns and Toowoomba. After a couple of hours chatting and eating we cruised back to Parklands unfortunately the rain had set in by then so the driving events were a washout.
Sunday: Started fine but cloudy, the rain held off for the day and the balance of entrants started arriving at 8.30am with 150 cars parked on display for the combined show which included Mopar, Ford Chev etc. During the show were driving events including Dyno, Go to Woa and Launch Competition. The Gymkhana had to be cancelled as the grass was too wet.
The response to the event was excellent with most promising that they will be back for the 2nd Torana Nationals in 2007 (date TBA)
